In light of the Coronavirus pandemic’s growing impact on lives and events across the globe, professional sports teams and leagues have been called on to be proactive about the situation. Notably, Major League Baseball today suspended operations indefinitely. With the Atlantic League’s season still almost 50 days away, there has not been an immediate call for postponements or changes. However, the York Revolution has become the ALPB’s first team to respond to concerns publically.
Saying via the team’s Instagram account (@yorkrevolution):

“YORK REVOLUTION STATEMENT ON CORONAVIRUS”
“(March 12, 2020, York, Pa.) — The York Revolution this afternoon issued the following statement:”
‘The York Revolution continues to closely monitor developments regarding the coronavirus pandemic and is in communication with city and state officials and the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball regarding potential responses to the crisis. We join the @cityofyorkpa in affirming that the health and well-being of Revolution fans and all of the members of our community is our highest concern, and we will continue to watch for guidance from health officials and experts regarding upcoming events at PeoplesBank Park and our 2020 season.’
I have reached out to ALPB President Rick White for comment and will pass along any official response from the league.
